# A private crypto asset map for your family

> Family Asset Map — A private asset map for you and your family.

Your crypto may be spread across wallets and exchanges. Help your family know where to look. Keep a private list in Family Asset Map. No wallet connection or public wallet address is required.

## Make your crypto easier to understand

List your wallets, exchanges, and assets alongside your savings and investments. Use names your family understands, such as “Long-term Bitcoin” or “Travel funds”.

You can describe where you hold an asset without entering its wallet address. Add notes that point to separate instructions.

You enter and update values yourself. Family Asset Map does not read wallet balances, fetch crypto prices, or connect to exchanges.

## Keep the details private

New portfolios use **E2E Encryption (end-to-end encryption)**. Your browser encrypts the portfolio name and data before it sends them to us.

A **passphrase** is a long password for your map. We do not receive it. We cannot read your data protected by E2E Encryption without it.

We can still see account emails and who has access. Optional Standard mode lets our server read your data. Use E2E Encryption for a map that we cannot read without your passphrase.

## See a simple crypto map

**Fictional example.** These names and values are examples, not live prices.

Create a category named “Crypto”. Add an institution for each wallet or exchange, then add accounts for its assets.

- **Hardware wallet → Long-term Bitcoin:** estimated value $5,000 USD.
- **Example exchange → Ethereum:** estimated value $1,500 USD.
- **Mobile wallet → Travel funds:** estimated value $200 USD.

Add a note to “Hardware wallet”: “Read the separate family instructions for this wallet. Ask Alex where to find them.”

This map needs no wallet addresses, private keys, or recovery phrases. Update the estimates when you review it.

Actual app. Fictional data. Use clear names and notes for your wallets and exchanges. This example uses estimated values in USD.

## Give your family a clear view

- Select “Share” and enter the email address of someone you trust.
- Select “Allow viewing”. Send an invitation or copy the link.
- Share your map passphrase through a separate, safe method.
- Ask the person to sign in and open the map on their own device.

They can view your **whole portfolio**, including other asset categories. They cannot edit it. You cannot share only the crypto category.

Read one entry together. Check that they understand what it means and where to find the next instructions.

Adding people and viewing shared maps are free during early access. [See current access and planned pricing](https://familyassetmap.com/pricing).

Actual app. Fictional data. Add a person by email. They can view your whole portfolio. Share the portfolio passphrase separately.

## Prepare before your family needs it

If you are ill or die, your family may not know which wallets or exchanges to look for. Your map gives them a starting point.

Set up access in advance. Plan how your chosen person will get the map passphrase if they cannot contact you.

Family Asset Map does not detect a death or release data on its own. Access to the map does not give control of your crypto.

## Keep wallet secrets separate

Keep private keys, recovery phrases, wallet passwords, and exchange login details outside Family Asset Map. A recovery phrase is also called a seed phrase.

Your map passphrase is separate from these wallet secrets. Use a different passphrase for the map. We cannot recover its encrypted data if that passphrase is lost.

Family Asset Map stores information about your assets. It does not hold or transfer crypto. Keep wallet recovery instructions separately in a safe place.

If you export your map, the JSON file is not encrypted. Store exported files safely.
